The parent Skill of Ambush contains some of the more interesting and highly useful sub-skills, such as Danger Sense and Mimicry - and where would a person be without the ability to Move Silently? Though Ambush and its sub-skills are thought of as most useful in treacherous situations, they are surprisingly useful in every-day life as well. Plus: if you can study it, your friends and enemies can too; perhaps it would be best to bone up on this wonderful skill and its sub-skills sooner rather than later.

Danger Sense[]

Dominant Attribute: Insight

Who knows what evil lurks around every corner, every bush, every tree?  Why, someone with a high Danger Sense Skill, that’s who!  While Awareness dwells more on societal dangers and pressures, the Danger Sense Skill focuses on keeping one out of physical harm, either real or perceived.  If one has a high enough Danger Sense Skill, one can not only feel that next attack coming from the angry Minotaur, but one can also sense that a Professor is stalking around the corner waiting to bust the next person he sees breaking curfew.   One of the most important Skill to learn, Danger Sense is also one of the more difficult ones; this should not be surprising in any way, given how useful it is, but more than a few students have declared themselves ready to study this Skill only to give up in disgrace after several fruitless hours of study.  Those who keep at it, however, shall be richly rewarded….

Mimicry[]

Dominant Attribute: Insight

Mimicry is a comedian's skill, but also a hunter's - it's all about copying the sounds and mannerisms of a specific individual (or, in some cases, species), and using them to your own ends.  With this skill, you can speak in a teacher's voice, chirp like a spring robin in love, or roar like an outraged satyr.

Move Silently[]

Stealth. Silence. Sneaky. These words and more describe the Skill of Move Silently, often called Silent Movement by those who don't know any better. Move Silently allows one to learn how to place their feet among the crackly autumn leaves and make no sounds. Those skilled in Move Silently will know how to sneak up on a person, listen to their conversation, and sneak away without being detected. Physical and magical means both are tehre to assist those skilled in Move Silently, and all skills and magical means can be used elsewhere to boot.

Traps[]

Dominant Attribute: Insight

The Skill of Traps is relatively self-explanatory and should not require much motivation to take.  If one wishes to set or avoid traps, one should seriously consider focusing on this Skill.  As this is the introductory version of Traps, however, one should note that most of the information learned here is theoretical rather than practical.  That having been said, without the theoretical, no practical can be expected.
