There's a skill to Competing that goes beyond simple familiarity with the rules of any given game. You want to get into the heads of your competition and make them make mistakes - better, make the specific mistakes you want them to make. It's wit, it's manipulation - it's learning how to win when simple statistics say you shouldn't.

Planning[]
Dominant Attribute: Insight (in-game description incorrectly claims it's Finesse)
Preparation for competition is not enough; to be really successful, one must plan! The Skill of Planning encompases all possibilities and eventualities, allowing a person to sally forth while knowing their backs will be properly protected and that everyone is 'on the same page', as it were.

Manipulation[]
Dominant Attribute: Finesse
Manipulation has existed since before the time of the Wyrms, yet it is truly the dragons that defined this Skill. Dragons were known to force other of their slave humans to report on other slave humans, even to the point of making these confessions occur without provocation. Merely the mention of the possibility of punishment caused slaves to squeal their confessions, thinking that by sending their comrades 'down the river', they themselves might be saved. Alas, most of the time, the dragons were merely looking for entertainment, and all those who squealed and were squealed on were punished the same.

Wit[]
Dominant Attribute: Finesse
Wit as it relates to the field of competition is far different than Wit as it relates to writing and poetry, yet the two are often intermingled so much that only the poet or historian can tell them apart. Those who study Wit will learn the art of speech in a way that can inspire followers and friends in practically any realm.
