Different peoples speak different languages. Unsurprisingly, the Skill of Language is the Skill of speaking different languages. While different languages are spoken by different peoples, there is still a common thread running through each language that helps hold them together. Learning one language may or may not make learning another easier, but advancement in one can sometimes provide benefits that will advance others.

Bassan[]

Though it's not commonly spoken in Mineta, the peoples of Oursouk and Saisyne (to the south) rely on the tongue of Bassan. A language as varied as the complex words of old tales, Bassan is favored by those who master it for its elegance and poetry. To learn Bassan is to choose to inherit history as a whole.

Elumian[]

The language of Elumian is a slight misnomer, for the Skill of Elumian is not the Elumian that most people currently speak but is instead its predecessor. A more correct title of this Skill would be Old Elumian, yet many people would confuse this brand of Elumian with that which existed before the arrival of the New Gods into Elumia. Modern Elumian, the generally spoken dialect of today, is often called 'standard Elumian' or 'Imperial Elumian' or even just 'Renaglian' to help distinguish it from the Elumian that was spoken at the height of the Empire, which is sometimes called 'Empire Elumian'. Frankly, unless one has dedicated their life to the study of Elumian (and all its daughter and sister languages), to simply call this language Elumian is more than acceptable...it is Elumentary.

Merilien[]

Dominant Attribute: Intelligence

Merilien is the language of the island of Meril - la Merile - and the preferred tool of troubadors, chefs, and half the political conspirators of the known world.  As languages go, it's widely held as being quite pleasant to the ear, even by people who consider the cultures that speak it too unstable and unhealthy to visit.

Oncestrian[]

Dominant Attribute: Intelligence

Oncestrian is generally considered to be the language choice of explorers and daring individuals across Elumia.  While speaking this language isn't a requirement, so to speak, it helps set one apart from the crowd of would-be explorers who find the title much more interesting than the action itself.

Vilocian[]

Dominant Attribute: Intelligence

The dominant language of the former Empire of Viloca, Vilocian is most often thought of as the language of warriors.  Mercenaries often speak Vilocian amongst themselves while in cities or camps in order to have a measure of privacy from the nobles who hire and utilize them, but the language is well enough known that most educated men and women are fully capable of understanding more than a few phrases.  That said, the places where Vilocian is natively spoken - Staade and its neighbors - are technological powerhouses, producing more airships (and strange firearms!) than your part of the world ever has.
