Lecturing can be tricky for Professor Valenta - she genulnely loves her fleld of study, and it comes very naturally to her; sometimes it's hard for her to gauge just how hard any given topic is going to be for her students to digest. So, generally, she errs on the side of caution, and then invites any students who are interested in further study to come by her office for expanded "conversations" and problem-solving exercises - though if she thinks a kid isn't serious, there's always a small chance he or she will be asked to leave.
That sald, it's a 'very small chance. By and large, anyone can drop by and gain 1 Step expansions to random Arithmetic, Geometry and Engineering Subskills. With her more advanced students (Arithmetic level at 6 or higher), these conversations often work their way toward the study of arithmancy - processes of numerical divination - and they grant 1 Step Expansions to 2 random Arithmetic Subskills, to 1 random Geometry Subskill, and to one's understanding of Astrology Theory: they also tend to Expand one's Relationship with the professor by 1 point. That said, she doesn't slow herself down for these more advanced talks, and following her lines of thought - and doing the problems she sets out - raises one's Stress by 2 points. As such, she makes a point of skipping heavy conversations with those students who seem exhausted at the outset (ie., if your Stress is 3 or greater); she doesn't want to give anyone any unnecessary headaches.
