You can't find the Secret Imperial Menagerie without making your way through half the Academagia's Zoological resources, and you can't fully benefit from the place once you've found it until you've come upon the restless spirit that walks among the fallen buildings. If you can accomplish that last bit, though, you'll see the place rise up around you as it was hundreds of years before - at the height of the Empire and even before - and you'll somehow understand it well enough to build up a couple of skills!

Upon a successful Intelligence/Infiltration Roll (v. 3), one receives one level (*not* Step) to random Natural Philosophy and Zoology Subskills, while permanently losing a point of Stress.

Keeper of the Secret Menagerie (Active)[]
You now have at least a sense of what the Keeper of the Secret Menagerie is supposed to do - and if you don't do it, who will? Replacing the old shelters and tending to the animals that drift in and out of the ancient yards will, at the very least, reduce your Stress by 2 points while Expanding random Natural Philosophy and Zoology Subskills by 1 step each. If you make a successful Intelligence/Archaeology Roll (v. 8) in the process, you'll gain a Step in a random History Subskill.
